“As an Alaskan, and having recently visited many of the communities in coastal Alaska, I am heartbroken to see the devastation from typhoon Merbok. With so many families losing their homes, this only exacerbates the problem these communities already face with a shortage of housing. Alaskans are tough and resilient, and those affected by this storm will have every ounce of their resolve tested. As they continue to battle this storm and the aftermath, I am praying for their protection and safety. And when the storm passes and the difficult work of recovery begins, I know that Alaskans will once again show that we take care of and help our neighbors.”
