Alaska conservative Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka today issued the following statement regarding President Joe Biden’s continued assault on Alaska, and Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s complicity in the attacks. The New York Times is reporting that Biden’s Department of Agriculture is moving to reinstate the “Roadless Rule” in Tongass National Forest, depriving Alaskans of access to their own land for tourism and economic development.

Tshibaka’s statement is as follows:

“Joe Biden has targeted Alaska for attacks, and Lisa Murkowski has enabled the enactment of his disastrous agenda. It wasn’t enough for Biden to kill jobs for Alaska’s oil and natural gas workers, now he has hurt those whose livelihoods would be supported by the 17-million-acre Tongass National Forest.

“Murkowski rubberstamped the confirmation of Biden’s Agriculture Secretary, Tom Vilsack, who is spearheading the complete devastation of economic opportunities for Alaskans in that region. Worse, it appears that Biden has offered Murkowski a political pay-off in the form of $25 million for ‘local sustainable development to improve the health of the forest.’ This one-time D.C. handout can never compare to the economic opportunities our citizens have lost because Biden and Murkowski together prohibited Alaskans from responsibly developing our own land.

“We’ve long known that through her votes, Lisa Murkowski has facilitated Biden’s continued attacks on Alaska. And thanks to the New York Times, we now also know that she was awarded an insulting political consolation prize in exchange.”
